The company was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight and under then name Blue Ribbon Sports. In 1972 the name was changed to Nike for the Greek winged goddess of victory. Nike Golf has gained much ground in just a few short years in the golf equipment and apparel business. Capitalizing on their success in other sports, Nike has produced a full line of products, from Wedges, Irons, Woods and Drivers to apparel, footwear and gloves that have rapidly gained much popularity both on Tour, and among players of all skill levels. Nike has dozens of players on the PGA TOUR, LPGA, JPGA as well as most international tours.

Using a linear CG-mapping process allowed Nike engineers to create irons designed to achieve the same peak height throughout the set, yet with a higher apex than last year’s VR Pro Combo set.
“Nike hit this one pure. These irons look and feel like they’re supposed to.” . . . “It’s effortless at impact, but there’s a lot of giddyup to it. I just wish it weren’t so busy on the face with all those grooves.”
This is effective technology. Making the short irons a more forgiving cavity-back (last year’s model used blades in the scoring clubs) and beefing up the sole width help this club appeal to a broader base of players.
If you’re a left-hander, keep searching: These irons are only available for righties.
