Silver Medal
Forged from 1025E soft carbon steel, the MP-T11 uses different lofts. For lower-lofted, full swing wedges, a narrower, deeper groove was chosen to produce the desired spin. On higher-lofted wedges used for partial shots (such as chips and pitches), a wider, shallower groove is used to channel debris away from the face.
"Exceptionally good off tight lies. The sole just sits skinny."
"The sole grind will help you hit any kind of shot."…"I'm really intrigued by the Spinner shaft. On full shots it seemed to give a smooth, confident feel."
"Beautiful, classy club. Nice, muted sound. Easy to hit from any sand lie. The ball comes out like you were throwing it out."
Mizuno's idea of adopting a groove configuration that works best for the types of shots hit seems smarter than most.
The technology would be more useful with more lofts.
